Molecular Electrochemical Reductive Splitting of Dinitrogen with a Molybdenum Complex**

چکیده
Nitrogen reduction in mild conditions (room T and atmospheric P), using a non-fossil source of hydrogen remains challenge. Molecular metal complexes, notably Mo based, have recently shown to be active for such nitrogen fixation. In this work, we report about the electrochemical N2 splitting with MoIII triphosphino complex [(PPP)MoI3], at room temperature moderately negative potential. A MoIV nitride species was generated, which confirmed by electrochemistry NMR studies. The reaction goes through two successive one electron starting species, coordination an molecule, further complex. Preliminary DFT investigation supports formation bridging MoIN2MoI dinitrogen dimer evolving via low energy transition state. This example joins short list molecular complexes reductive cleavage. It opens door PCET conversion studies NH3

Electrochemical Dinitrogen Fixation
Materials that catalyze efficient electrochemical N2 fixation would open up the possibility of using an N2/NH3 cycle to store and utilize energy from diffuse renewable sources. In such a cycle, N2 and H2O would be electrolytically transformed to NH3 and O2 in an electrolyzer powered by a renewable electricity source. With existing technologies, NH3 can be utilized in solid oxide fuel cells or c...

Cis and trans-Cr-N(2) complexes supported by the diphosphine ligand P(Ph)(2)N(Bn)(2) have been prepared. Positioned pendant amines in the second coordination sphere influence the thermodynamically preferred geometric isomer. Electronic structure calculations indicate negligible Cr-N(2) back-bonding; rather, electronic polarization of N(2) ligand is thought to stabilize Cr-N(2) binding.

In this paper, the carbon paste electrode (CPE) is modified using an ionic liquid (1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, [BMIM]BF4) and the cis-dioxo-bis[3-methoxy-2,2-dimethylpropanediamine] molybdenum(VI) complex (cis-[Mo(O)2L]). In order to study of the electrochemical behavior of ascorbic acid (AA) and dopamine (DA) at the surface of the prepared CPEs, the differential pulse and cy...
متن کاملElectrochemical generation of hydrogen from acetic acid using a molecular molybdenum–oxo catalyst†‡
We recently reported the catalytic generation of hydrogen from water mediated through the in situ reduction of the molybdenum(IV)–oxo complex [(PY5Me2)MoO] 2+ (1; PY5Me2 1⁄4 2,6-bis(1,1-bis(2pyridyl)ethyl)pyridine) at a mercury electrode. To gain further insight into this unique molecular motif for hydrogen production, we have now examined the competence of this complex for the catalytic reduct...

Covalent grafting of MCM-41 with 3-chloropropyl trimethoxysilane and subsequent reaction respectively with acacdien and complexation with MoO2(acac)2 afforded MoO2acacdien@MCM-41. X-ray diffraction and nitrogen sorption analyses revealed the preservation of the textural properties of the support as well as accessibility of the channel system despite sequential reduction in surface area, pore vo...
